Betula nigra - “River Birch”
Medium. Beautiful, fastgrowing with distinct pinkish-orange shaggy bark, becoming brown and rigid on old trees.
Will tolerate extremely wet and dry soils. Superb as a multi-stem. Ideally usually three or more strong stems breaking from ground level. Looks very effective when planted in groups in a naturalised way with undulation grass or bulb planting.
