Designs are progressively under pressure to give an instant landscape. There is also a need to define borders, and a green divide has many advantages:

  • Aesthetically pleasing
  • Leafy, inoffensive borders
  • Absorbs sound
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Secure boundary
  • More cost effective than a wall

Pre-formed Clipped Hedging

As the picture shows this range of native hedging has been grown on and pruned over years to form an instant formal clipped hedge. Each plant represents a module or block that when planted together will form a hedge. These would need to be specified as "pre-formed hedging"

Evergreen Trees as Screening

Pines

Pines can be used to great effect as screening on a larger scale. These should be specified by height when the requirement is for a tree branched fully down to the ground. Alternatively, if the design calls for clear stems, they should be specified by girth as for standard trees. These are available as root-balled or container.

Pinus nigra (Austrian Pine) E
Feathered Bushy 200-250cm high
up to 550-600cm
Standard Single Clear Stem 25-30cm
upto 50-55cm girth

Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine) E
Feathered Bushy 200-250cm high
up to 550-600cm
Standard Single Stem 25-30cm
upto 50-55cm girth

Prunus laurocerasus 'Magnoliifolia'

A very useful small evergreen tree which is supplied as clear stem (1.8m) and is available in sizes 12-14 - 20-25cm girth. this tree can provide year-round screening at above fence height (1.8m). Height will vary depending on size of tree. Very useful in residential situations where instant screening is required.

Prunus laurocerasus 'Magnoliifolia' (tree laurel) E
Standard Single clear Stem 12-14cm
up to 20-25cm girth
